About Ian Webb
Ian was a Husband, Father, Golf Professional and a Great Friend to Bridgewater Country Club. Ian was taken from us far too soon in 2019 after a courageous battle with Cancer. A Fort Erie native, Ian’s love of golf can be traced back to his time as a junior golfer playing Rio Vista.
As a natural athlete he quickly became an accomplished golfer, competing both locally and regionally in junior events. He was drawn to the game and was passionate about making it his Career. He took a job in 1980 at Bridgewater Country Club as a range/cart attendant under Golf Professional Rocco D’Amelio. He worked his way through various positions at the Club and within 12 years he had worked his way to the position of ‘Class A’ Associate Member of the PGA of Canada.
His career spanned 40+ years and took him to different Clubs throughout Ontario. Each Club that was lucky enough to have had ‘Webby’ as their Professional would have seen how passionate he was about the game of golf, their members and how he loved to see junior golfers take up the game. If you knew ‘Webby’ in any capacity you were better for it. Today and forever we all will be ‘Webby Strong’.
